Chair announcements:

Phyllis Yoshida has volunteered to be the parent lead for Cluster I.

Parent Resource Center:

We will invite Gail Holloman, the new head of the PRC, to our next meeting.

Proposed Virginia regulations on IDEA:

Sheree Brown Kaplan made a motion that 1) A subcommittee be formed to develop recommendations about the Virginia regulations; 2) Those recommendations be presented to the FCCPTA board in the form of a resolution; and 3) If the FCCPTA board adopts the resolution, the subcommittee will then forward it as public comment to the Virginia Department of Education and also present it to the appropriate people within FCPS.  The motion was seconded and approved unanimously.

Sheree further moved that the subcommittee present the information to the state Special Education Advisory Committee before its meeting in January. She accepted a friendly amendment that the information be presented not as officially from the FCCPTA but from a group of individuals. The motion carried unanimously.

Stephan Klene, Sheree Brown Kaplan, Margaret Fisher, Mary Nell Clark, and possibly Joan Rizek volunteered to serve on the subcommittee.

Future meetings:

Wednesday, February 6; Thursday, April 17.

Respectfully submitted,

Margaret Fisher
