Fairfax County Spelling Bee Program
Fairfax County Council PTA announces the 2018-19 Fairfax County Spelling Bee Program!
All elementary and middle schools in Fairfax County are invited to enroll. Enrollment is open to public, private, parochial and religious schools as well as homeschooling organizations, as long as the school itself is located in Fairfax County.
Enrollment for the 2018-19 Spelling Bee Season is open NOW.
- EARLY BIRD Enrollment: NOW – October 17, 2018
- REGULAR Enrollment: October 18, 2018 – January 30, 2019
SAVE MONEY by enrolling your school as an EARLY BIRD for the lowest rate plus extra prizes for your spellers from Scripps!
To enroll your school:
- Visit www.spellingbee.com, the website of the Scripps National Spelling Bee;
- At the top of the homepage, click the yellow “Enroll” button;
- Follow the prompts.
Once your school is officially enrolled, you will have access to all materials via download and will be well on the way to increasing your students’ verbal confidence and word power!
Schools will hold their spelling bees during January and February, 2019 and the Spelling Bee Season will culminate on March 17, 2019 with the Fairfax County Spelling Bee, which is the final local spelling bee for school spelling bee champions.
NOTE: Only spelling bee champions from schools enrolled in the Fairfax County Spelling Bee Program are eligible to compete in the Fairfax County Spelling Bee.
The winner of the Fairfax County Spelling Bee will earn the right to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee during Bee Week, which will be held in late May, 2019 at National Harbor, MD.Since 2006, the all-volunteer Fairfax County Council of PTAs has coordinated and administered the Fairfax County Spelling Bee Program. The Program operates under the auspices of the Scripps National Spelling Bee Program, for which FCCPTA is an official Regional Sponsor.
The Fairfax County Spelling Bee Program is financially supported by leaders of the business and charitable community in Fairfax County.
