PTA Reflections Arts Recognition Program 2019-20

What is Reflections

Reflections is an arts recognition program sponsored by National PTA.  Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. The theme for the 2019-2020 program year is Look Within. Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories:

  • Dance Choreography
  • Film Production
  • Literature
  • Music Composition
  • Photography
  • Visual Arts

How Can My PTA Participate?

First, designate a volunteer to be your Reflections Chair.  You can refer them to the Reflections Local Leader Guide to get started.  Then, sign up by contacting Denise Bolton, FCCPTA’s Reflections Chair at with your contact information and PTA Name.  FCCPTA will hold a Reflections Training session in the fall.

What is the Timeline?

Students can work on their Reflections entry over the summer before school even starts!  PTA’s will want to start publicizing Reflections in all Back to School communications and send home a flyer either electronically or in take home folders as soon as possible.

Entries are first evaluated at the local unit level, where selected works are chosen to represent the PTA at each subsequent level – council, district,  state, all the way to National. Local PTA units decide when their own deadline will be for entries so that they can evaluate each one and determine which entries will be submitted to the Fairfax County Council level.  We suggest a local unit (school) PTA student turn in date around Oct 4, 2019 to give your judges enough time to review all of the entries.

Please submit your schools’ 1st-place winning entries (in each arts category/age division) on Thursday, Oct 31 or Friday, Nov 1,

At FCPS Gatehouse Administration Center Room 1180

8115 Gatehouse Rd., Falls Church VA, 22042
