Resources Available from the National PTA to
Assist Membership Chairs
National PTA has a wealth of information to assist you in
becoming and remaining an effective membership chair. The National PTA members
web site is just one of the wonderful resources available with valuable
information.
Resources available specifically for State Membership
Chairs include:
-
MembersChair Listserv – this forum of communication is a
tool for membership chairs to share ideas and network. Membership chairs from
across the country post questions and answers directly related to enhancing
membership in their states.
-
Membership Growth Plan – this step by step guide is an
essential tool in developing and implementing a plan for membership growth.
-
Membership Exchange newsletter – this bimonthly
communication is a service provided to state membership chair to keep them up to
date on news and information effecting membership. Helpful tips are included in
each issue.
-
Membership Chair Resource Manual – a guide for state
membership chairs to assist in effective membership management. This manual
contains a directory of state membership chairs. Although distributed annually,
this piece is updated throughout the year.
Any of the above resources can be obtained by contacting
the National PTA membership department.
Across the country universities and colleges offer courses
in volunteer management. There are at least 17 states with universities or
community colleges that offer some type of volunteer program. A few of the
colleges offer programs online. To find out if there is a school in your
state offering any programs, visit the
ServiceLeader
website.
If you use resources not listed below, forward them to
National PTA, membership department. They will be included in the Membership
Exchange. Remember that the Membership Exchange and the listserv
are a forum for sharing membership information.
(When access some parts of the National PTA website you will be prompted to
enter a membership "User Name" and "Password"; they can be found on the reverse
