"Feeding Academic Success" Food Day Celebration

Real Food For KidsReal Food For Kids is hosting the "Feeding Academic Success" Food Day event.  Join keynote speaker Ann Cooper, chef, author, educator and advocate for better food for all children for Food Day at George Marshall High School at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, October 23.  

Panel discussion of health and nutrition experts will discuss how school food contributes to the public health crisis and create impediments to learning, and will also discuss models of successful change in public school systems.  Panelists include Chef Ann Cooper; Chef Nora Pouillon; Katherine Bishop, nutritional policy specialist at Center for Science in the Public Interest; Chef Ed Kwitowski, Director of School Food Services for DC Central Kitchen; and, Natalie Sikka, MD - Obesity specialist in pediatric gastroenterology. High School culinary challenge - students from Fairfax County High School culinary arts programs are invited to send teams to compete in a challenge to create a fresh, nutritious salad bar that meets USDA National School Lunch Program guidelines.
